Who is Rena Gaile ?

“Encouraging others to Christian faith and living in testimony & song.”

Like many Christian artists, Rena started singing in her church at an early age, and even directed the folk choir in her late teens. However, her starry-eyed dreams drew her out of church music, on a quest for personal fame. Rena says, “In my search for the spotlight, I spent fifteen years in the dark, away from God. I had religion, but I did not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. From my church upbringing, I thought I was a Christian because I was a believer. Boy did I have a lot to learn!” As a professional singer and recording artist, Rena had hit songs in New Country Music, videos in endless rotation on CMT (Country Music Television) and nominations for "Best New Artist" and "Female Artist of the Year" for her album entitled “Out On a Limb” from 1993 -’97. In spite of it, Rena felt consumed by the need to find a deeper meaning to her successful life.

While soul-searching, she surrendered her dreams and plans to God, asking what He wanted for her life. The answer came slowly but surely and she experienced deep personal change. Rena's need to be famous was gradually replaced with an insatiable hunger to know God. Driven by this new passion, Rena began to use her musical gifts to lead worship at her home church (Forestbrook) in Pickering, Ontario. She became a regular on 100 Huntley Street singing her own pop-gospel compositions. She dedicated time to teaching singing to others. She recorded her first pop-style gospel album “At Your Feet” in a bold and vital step toward sharing her testimony and beliefs with the world. It spawned four Canadian Gospel Music Association Nominations and took home Best Southern Gospel song of the year for her song "Just As I Am". Next came “One People”, a more worshipful CD which includes many songs written for churches, hence the title. When she’s not teaching or performing or leading worship, Rena continues to collaborate and create new Christian songs which clearly reflect her love of God and increased understanding of His character and what He requires of us.

Today Rena shares the messages of the gospel in songs and ordinary street language that any listener can understand. Her humility and transparency are refreshing as she shares stories from her life and what God has done with humor and grace. Her passion, purpose and conviction are evident. Her love for the Lord and burning spiritual enthusiasm shine through in every performance. She says:
“May my whole life be a testimony to the glorious riches and
healing power of the love and grace of God!!”
